Camp Cool chemistry
Join our science camp for kids filled with colourful reactions, surprising discoveries, and hands-on scientific experiments! Will it turn green, melt, or freeze? Is it acidic or alkaline? Why doesn’t aluminum rust? How can giant molecules be made? This week we will solve the mysteries of different substances by testing their properties. Young scientists will investigate plastics, metals, acids, bases, electrolysis, and even the chemistry of comets.

Monday
Explore Polymers and Plastics
Children will examine and identify everyday plastics. We will perform cool chemical reactions and create fascinating materials such as bioplastics, flexible polymers, and bouncing balls.
Tuesday
Compare the Properties of Metals
Through hands-on activities, little scientists will compare the chemical, electrical, and magnetic properties of metals. They will test reactions with an acid and discover why some metals resist corrosion.
Wednesday
Discover Acids and Bases
Participants will measure the acidity and alkalinity of many household products. Expect surprising experiments and colorful reactions. The kids will even make a natural indicator they can take home to continue their exploration of chemistry.
Thursday
Experiment with Electrolysis
We will pass electricity through various solutions and get amazing results. Participants will split water into gases, observe color changes during electrolysis, discover electrolytic machining, and even grow metallic dendrites.
Friday
Build a Model Comet
On the last day of this holiday camp, we embark on an interstellar journey and explore the fascinating chemistry of stars and planets. Children will create a miniature comet model using dry ice and other materials.
Participants take home: lab journal, periodic table of Elements, bouncing ball, Orbeez, acid/base indicator, metal dendrits.
